As you may well be aware, real ale sales are on the rise and, as a consequence so is the number of brewers, breweries and most importantly, real ale drinkers! In 2014 we decided to host our first local ales festival specifically focusing on real ales produced within 30 miles of our doorstep, celebrating the immense variety, quality and sheer number of lovingly brewed beers available in Bristol and the surrounding areas. The success of this first festival certainly gave us a taste and we are now committed to hosting 'The Lansdown 30' every 6 months with a spring and autumn ale showcase each year.

There are currently up to 20 different ales available for your tasting pleasure at each festival, with a souvenir glass and 1/3 pint tasters on offer allowing you the opportunity to make the most of the selection. As well as a full brochure detailing each ale and brewery, each customer is given the opportunity to rate their top 3 ales to be in with a chance of winning food and drinks prizes. The Lansdown 30 Champion Ales have included FUBAR from Tiny Rebel Brewery and Great Western Brewing's Moose River which proved so popular it has had a regular pump on our main bar.

As with everything we try and achieve at The Lansdown, these ale festivals aim to involve much of the local community which is why some of our most musically gifted regulars are asked to perform live over the 2-day event. Past acts have included the superb Roaring Trowmen, John and Pete in their Last Chance Saloon and local poet, artist and musician Tim Burroughs. We are always on the look out for new acts, so if you are interested in performing at our next festival please get in touch. There will be plenty of liquid refreshment on tap! This year we are proud to be showcasing for the first time, the talents of The Long Pours.
